great album and really on the same level as Tin Cans, though this one is a bit more polished and a little shorter which is fine given the content. Tin Cans had much more of a Quicksand vibe but on this I can really hear the Deftones comparisons, mostly in the vocals.

"Tin Cans" and "Water & Solutions" almost feel like two separate bands, to me. Tin Cans is way more moody and expansive, less concerned about hooks and more about building a feel. This one feels way more radio-ready and concise.

I largely agree. Definitely more radio-ready here but they also deviated and experimented a little bit, more noticeably on the latter half

It's weird when this came out it was marketed as having similarities to Deftones.
'Emo' was a term but not really mainstream widespread. Sort of a crossover album in the rock community it was.

Ah yeah, they came from Sacramento, that's why the connection was pushed.

I'll tell you something: you wear it so well
For a worn out splintered prison palace
Sister, you wear it so well

There were enough surface level similarities between Tin Cans and Around the Fur for labels and reviewers to make a comparison when trying to describe a new sound.

I don't remember a thing this band has done aside from the Pony cover lol

They were on a long hiatus before they released the album with that song on it. These guys were pretty good back in the day. I'm sure they'd sound dated if you're just getting to them today. Tin Cans is better than this album, but this one is pretty good too... and both are better than their last one.

Jonah Matranga has played in several bands and side projects but this album and New End Original are still my two favorites.
