Noctus doesn't hate good music, he just has very odd taste (look at his avatar). The man knows what he likes though, I can empathize.

This is really chill actually. Not a massive fan of the "blackened" bits (all down to personal preference, not bashing your effort) but overall this is great stuff. Well done and hoorah!

"how dare a dude who doesn't jump on hype trains make something that's actually cool to listen to? :D"
Fix'd.
No reason to glorify Cascadian blackgayze or later Burzum if you think they're shit.

"the first time i listened to track 1 the distorted guitars entering was kind of a shock since the clean reverby guitar sounds so pretty / professional quality, but i think i'm getting used to it."

I had the same reaction.

for the cleans, is the only problem the mic? i guess none of that distortion was intentional? a lot of clean singers in the metal world don't have 'great voices', but it works fine...you could always try to drop them into the mix a little more

aye, it was literally a webcam mic - varg would be proud! as soon as you raise your voice it distorts but it naturally sounds pretty warped, it's all i had at my disposal at the time

you mentioned you have another song w/ esoteric influence, does that mean the full album will have more contrast? you have some contrast on these tracks when you start playing 'riffs', but for the most part they are very pretty throughout

much more varied, i wanted the demo to display the 'integral sound' so to speak but there's a lot more experimentation going on in the other tracks i have written (there are 3 of them, one 6 minutes, one 10 minutes and one 25 minutes, i also have foundations for other tracks)

the first time i listened to track 1 the distorted guitars entering was kind of a shock since the clean reverby guitar sounds so pretty / professional quality, but i think i'm getting used to it. i bring this up because i think you did a great job on track 2 transitioning them in

i see your point, yeah :s i wanted there to be a real sense of impact when it comes in but the sound of the distortion is pretty stark so i can understand that, i'm hoping with a better recording comes smoother sense of transitioning

do you know how much money you'd need to do a CD release in the future when everything is complete? i'm just curious because i have no idea! but say...to get 50 or 100 copies made?

well i've been considering handmade ones, i made some copies of my ambient/drone album this way and honestly they look pretty good, i could sign each one and sell them cheap. but to answer the question they wouldn't cost me a lot to make, it would take effort but i've no problem with that.

as for actual printed cd's they'd obviously be more costly, i'd have to investigate. i'm toying with the idea of making mini cd's since it's only 24 minutes of material.

We're doing vinyl pressings for my band. It's slightly costly, but damn they'll look great! You usually order them in +100 batches from distributors here in Sweden and I can't imagine its much different in the UK.

that sounds great but i'd rather wait until i have better recordings, and more knowledge of how to make a really good vinyl mix

cool man, i just like physical media so I was curious...would a "mini-cd" come in a mini-case or a regular one?

honestly i could use either, i think it depends how much art i'm able to pull together, if there isn't much art i'll likely opt for a mini case

i just hope i can live up to it, thank you! i'll for sure be re-recording both of these tracks for the album with better equipment, if possible.

i mean i've actually had a recording of the wanderer online for like a year, though i only finished writing age upon age a day before i released the ep, so hopefully i'll get to mature both pieces even further.
