The more I listen to this the more I adore it. This and New World Shadows are fucking top-tier melodic death metal.

Nightwalkers is prob one of the best melodeath songs I’ve ever heard.

Unknowing was the one that stuck out the most for me, sounds like a spiritual successor to Soul Journeys and that song was top tier sexual sound waves

The melodic playing on this is pretty sweet, isn't it?

Even though the album contains some tracks I really, really don't approve of (like Nightwalkers or Who Could Say, the former being as non-OG as I could imagine and the latter oozing with cheese in the wrong way), I think this is the pinnacle of their career. Beyond is ambitious, atmospheric, ultra melodic and perfectly embodies that uplifting soaring mood OG always had in them. It's amazing how the artwork represents all that perfectly (no idea what happened to Olli Lappalainen and the band's visual ideas on The Burning Cold...)

And btw, the cleans are not done by Pelkonen, his cleans are atrocious (as can be heard on Redshift and the one before that).

Idk what it is about this band, but its off putting which is weird being a huge melodeath guy. The main chorus of 'New Dynamic' kind of makes me cringe.

I think it’s the vocals and maybe some of the songs seem to be too... overdramatic. There is some really fucking good melodeath here but in pieces.

I think a lot of melodeath is pretty overdramatic. I mean that's kind of the charm of it imo. I can see your point though, because I somewhat cringe over hearing the line "would it be OK" delivered using a growl ^^. it's just somewhat funny in a way, but the song is so damn good overall that I really don't care.

This is awesome. Very melodic and pretty. Their lead guitarist dude learnt a lot from playing with Insomnium.

Ive upped my rating after giving it a couple of spins, but I don't think I can go higher than a 3.5...

I think the vocals don't match what the rest of the band is producing. They are suppppeeeerrrr melodic and emotional and the vocals just come off as dry and not expressive enough. Give these guys a vocalist like Mikael Stanne or Christian Älvestam and now you got grade A material here. But the guitar playing and the song writing is great here.
