The guitar leads provide the most interesting aspects but they mostly want to do their own thing unrelated to the rest of the music, whilst the vocals flutter about in a daze and the guitar chords paddle along in the foreground as Iceage seem content to tread water and quickly dispose of the remainder of the album.

i like to think that if you're being critical, you should assume that every sound on the record is there based on an artistic decision made by the band. it helps me avoid, a) empty statements like the the "guitars are unrelated to the rest of the music", because they clearly aren't, and b) you don't get to say things like the first half of this review, where you describe an instance of when you think the band sounds best to you ("a great idea on paper", using the first song as an example) and then condemn everything else for not being great examples of that "great idea"

I've only heard it once, but from the first impression it wasn't nearly as good as the first impression I got from New Brigade the first time I heard that.
Will definitely have to listen again, might be a grower.
