melodies combined with thrashy modern riffing, great hooks, real power,

don't know any band which can deliver such quality-power metal-songs as Helloween.

a new masterpiece of a band which started 28 years ago.

great album

for a powermetal-fan a must-buy

Not a very interesting album for me. Pretty solid 3 based on first listen.

I still can't believe how much that riff in Live Now! sounds like the main riff in Dream Theater's Forsaken.

Helloween have pretty much worked on the same sound since 'Keeper of the Seven keys-The legacy', and on their latest, 'Straight out of the hell', they show no signs of changing their sound. There's a few 'softer' tunes such as 'Far from the sun' and the cringeworthy title of 'Hold me in your arms', but these are well balanced by the grittier likes of the title track and fantastic opener 'Nabatea'. The main problem I've always had with Helloween's latter albums is the length and obvious filler material, and unfortunately, on this album, it slightly suffers from that. I personally can't see what harm it would do to cut 'Asshole' or 'Church breaks down' from the album to make for a more consistent flow of songs, but nonetheless 'Straight out of Hell' shows that Helloween are not stopping just yet.
