God the production on this album is so bad. The only track it really hurts alot is The Face of My Innocence though, there's alot going on in that song that gets buried under the cymbals. They should re-record that song at some point.

I like the guitar tone on this album alot but I do agree with you that the drum production is pretty bad. The cymbals are really loud and the you can't hear the toms at all.

Got it and I'm loving it so far. Wouldn't say its perfect but its not really far-off from it imo

From We Are the Nightmare? How'd you manage that? Are you in bed with Arsis like Cocaine is with PTH?
And is it true that they've split?
Awesome review.

They haven't broken up. They just dropped off of the last few dates of the Exodus/Goatwhore/Warbringer tour. They're currently headlining a tour with Skeletonwitch and Veil of Maya.
I've heard the three songs (Sightless Wisdom, Shattering the Spell, and We Are the Nightmare) all from different sources. I've heard Sightless Wisdom twice live. It's pretty simple, has a hella catchy chorus riff and features a full on bass solo at the end, which is what they did both times live.
Shattering the Spell was up on Youtube yesterday but the video got taken down. Luckily I managed to get it as an mp3 before someone took it down. This song is straight up technical death metal. The intro could be mistaken for Necrophagist, no joke.
The title track is pretty confusing, but definitely awesome. It starts with clean guitars and ranges from melodic black metal (ala Storm of the Light's Bane) to a soaring guitar solo, to just plain catchy and "simpler" guitar riffs. I can see why they picked this as a single.
I will try to be optimistic. Hopefully the drums will actually be mildly entertaining.
Fear not! Cesca slays anything Mike Van Dyne has ever done, no contest. I can say that and I don't really know much about drums. He's faster for sure and is more creative, but he doesn't really steal the spotlight ever. He's great!

Yeah, everytime I go to see Arsis live, they either don't show up, or the lead singer doesn't show up. And I think it is lame they don't play the full version of A Diamond for Disease.
The problem I have with Arsis, except for their EP is that all the songs sound samey.
