Great review. It's short and to the point. I have trouble writing shorter reviews, mine feel too long sometimes.
Listened to Drawn to Black. It's a great song, the guitars are kick ass. I just have never been able to enjoy this type of screaming vocals for some reason.

That is an awesome instrumental intro track. The piano build into the full band is a nice setup.
I'm just wondering, for you guys that like the different forms of death metal, did you all like that type of screaming at first listen or did it take you a while to get used to it?

@Ecnalzen, I actually find the singer from insomnium to be rather mild lol.
Do you like metalcore like as I lay dying type stuff? that's the first metal i got into with screaming. Personally unless I can't understand a thing the screamer is saying I don't mind screams.
FYI you would probably LOVE the song 'dialogue with the stars' by in flames. It's an instrumental no screaming just melodic riffs!!!

Well, I like more 'post-hardcore' stuff, I guess. Stuff like Thrice, Alexisonfire, Cave In and some of the stuff that Haste the Day has put out.
I also have Trivium's 'Ascendancy' and Killswitch Engage's 'As Daylight Dies.' I enjoy both of those, but I never really went any further. I think Killswitch kind of tamed their music after that release and anything newer I've heard from Trivium kind of sounds like they are just trying to rip off late 80s/early 90s Metallica.
I am just kind of picky when it comes to screaming vocals. That's probably the 'heavier' stuff I like. It's probably pretty tame compared to what you listen to, lol.
I've heard of In Flames. I've also heard that Atreyu likes to rip them off.

Just finished listening to the In Flames track. That was cool. I do enjoy me an instrumental rock track.

Fuckin atreyu lol.
Honestly I don't listen to too much heavy stuff. I only just recently got into melodic death metal like in flames. Be sure to listen to dialogue of the stars! It's worth it. Also in my review for in flames the whoracle I make the point that you'll be so focused on the beautiful guitars that the last thing on your mind will be the singing/screaming.

Yeah, I will have to check out In Flames and more of these guys.
As much as I hate to admit it, I did listen to Atreyu for a bit when I was in college. Then I finally realized there is so much better out there than Atreyu. Fuckin' Atreyu...
If you haven't heard it, check this out. It's a pretty shameless rip-off:
