Yeah, thats sort of the theme, to be much calmer, and Deliverance much heavier.

I still think for being an album based solely on soft songs, it could've been a bit better.

Excellent effort from Opeth. I've always enjoyed Opeth's "softer" pieces in their music.

Ok, I just bought this album, I haven't actually heard all the songs so I hope I'm satisfied.

Windowpane is marvelous. The theme of the song is quite dark though. Reading through the lyrics, I've been lead to believe Akerfeldt is singing about child abuse of some sort.

Great album, but In My Time of Need is horribly overrated. Windowpane is the best here IMO, but the album is still fantastic.

So I like this album by them. I heard other songs by them and they sucked, Mikael Akerfield was screaming and that was a shame. So is there an other Opeth album with only clean vocals?

I really liked the 30 sec samples off this.

Does it reveal more depth or the same quality as songs go on? Cause the songs are not as long as usual.

This album is one of their best. Windowpane, Closure, Hope Leaves, and To Rid the Disease are the best ones here. In My Time of Need is a great one too.

I skip Death Whispered a Lullaby routinely now. It's the only song that I don't care for. I mean, it's okay, but nothing compared to the rest of the album.

Good to hear. So what are your thoughts on Deliverance then?, cause i plan to order it + Damnation from amazon.com atm.

Is it on par with SL, BP or GR?

I've only heard the song Deliverance from Deliverance. It was pretty good, but I need to hear more. Damnation is definitely on par with all of those, though. I would say Damnation is better than Ghost Reveries, but it's very close between Damnation, SL, and BP.
