Does anyone else prefer the smiley smile version of wind chimes to the one on here? The one on here just feels far too...busy for so... delicate a song

"Smiley Smile's version of Wonderful is way better too"

Agreed hard. The songs that carried over find their best versions on smiley smile, vegetables too. but the ones that didn't are just as good tho, I love the discordance of the elements suite

The entire vibe of Smiley Smile is better though

Simple, dark, creepy, warm, tender, schizophrenic

Other than Mrs. O'Leary's Cow maybe this has like none of that

There's a 1967 acoustic version of Surf's Up on the sessions that totally would have fit in Smiley Smile.

okay okay let me put it this way

we needed this to see just how much of a game-changer it would've been. it's a glimpse of long lost potential that's forever fated to be quite heartbreaking because the final product would've been fucking mindblowing. fuck sgt. peppers, Smile would've changed the whole game and would've cemented the Boys as one of the definitive legends today. It doesn't matter which version you prefer, but this is far more important to music as a whole than Smiley Smile will ever be.
