damn i remember thinking Adler was one of the best drummers in highschool.. now he just cant seem to get that same groove goin.

You serious? I'm pretty much in awe of his performance on this album. He totally kills it. If this album has an MVP it's him for sure.

It's at least OK. Wasn't big into their older stuff so I can't really comment on if it seems like they're "going through the motions" or not.

Another 3.5 for Lamb of God. Has some ridiculously bland tracks per usual.

Wrath sucked hard raisin balls, but Randy is possessed on this album.

Insurrection and King Me are worth the listen alone

After hearing the final section of the first track, I thought the drums in the album would be more energetic. But seriously, the drums in the album are so stale that they make the whole album sound stale.

2nd comment like this I've seen. Are we listening to the same album? I know people have different ideas of what good drumming is but damn. Am I the only one who thinks Adler's work on this album is impressive?

It's pretty repetitive and lifeless; I can't help but feel they should have been faster and more varied. I mean, we've all heard all the drum parts a bazillion times before (except for the end section of "Straight For the Sun" - that was one good drum part).
The album is tons better than Wrath, of course, and the guitar parts are as Lamb Of God guitar parts should be. But the drums seriously do poor judgment to the good guitar parts.

Regardless how many of us elite metallers slag you for giving this a 4/5, I give you props for generalizing this album in a way that makes mainstream metal like Lamb of God fun to listen to. Great review!
