I don't get how you can write a review like that and not give this thing a 4-4.5. Well written, for sure, though.

Was incredible live last night, couldn't recommend seeing him enough (if you get the chance)!
Support acts were also really impressive

I could talk about the amount of times this gets included in genre best of lists on music websites. But the easiest way to know that Stetson is far from overlooked is...
Anthony Fantano reviewed it.

Astonishingly good album, and the review is a good read too.. I wouldn't have thought to compare this to Music for 18 Musicians just because this is so much more dissonant but I do hear a lot of similarity in the way this stacks on so many looping phrases.

Argh. I was gonna check this anyway and now it'll look like I'm copying / following Johnny around. I can assure you that this isn't the case.

links to the likes of Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman, John Zorn, and Albert Ayler are very tempting
|
| |
Ornette Coleman is the Arcade Fire, Tom Waits, Bon Iver, Feist, TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem, and The National, among others of free harmony
|
| |
This is so crowdpleasing, though. Even his noise instincts are so soundtracky already. Great album, but I wouldn’t beatmatch it to Spiritual Unity.
