Lol. There's definitely more of a "pop" sound on some songs than anything they've done in the past, but no. This is alternative rock leaning towards alternative metal.

Lol. Maybe that's what it is. This album has left that pop aftertaste in your mouth, then you became fully aware they were a pop-rock band from day 1, and your mind can't handle it, so it denies it.
Your mind spins. You don't know what to believe anymore. Wasn't this band goth? Wasn't this band original? Wasn't this band alternative metal? You see Within Temptation's 1997 Enter album and your eyes hide the date from your mind. You check Linkin Park's 2000 Hybrid Theory album, and you think "No, this can't be".

This and The Open Door do great together! While The Open Door was more orchestral and calm, this is more electronic and heavy. Good Enough and Swimming Home show how far they can go without leaving their fundaments. Well done, I was surprised by the good drumming on this album.

Good album. Better than The Open Door. I don't think Oceans and Made of Stone are fillers; they are 2 of my favorites...best song by far is The Change. One problem I have with this album is that the songwriting is at an all time-low. Maybe Amy should have unmarried and depressed. Wrote better lyrics this way..
Best Songs: The Change (incredible), My Heart is Broken (incredible)
*These 2 are coincidentally/fortunately the best writen, too
Worst Songs: The Other Side, Never Go Back, Lost in Paradise

listened to the album str8 through hoping id find something
album imo is terrible, only enjoyable song I found was oceans as it had "ballad" type approach to it and good build up
