"One of the first Melodic Death Metal albums, and one of the best."
*gives 4.0*
Ok

4.0 is a very positive rating you know

Hell yeah it is, but there are many melodic death metal albums that are much better and have much higher scores. Idk, whenever it's "one of the best" it doesn't usually have a 4/5. It's higher than that.

About 3 years ago I think. I was really surprised about how intense and brutal it sounded compared to their other work
This also reminds me a lot of At The Gates debut, minus the clean and acoustic parts.

Yeah. Melodeath doesn't get much better than this.
I'm starting to think that I should bump this to a 5 and bump down Gallery to a 4.5 tbh

How is 4 not an appropriate rating for 'one of the best?' There's reasons other than quality of the music that someone might not give an album a perfect score. If you read the review, it seems it was because of the production. Speaking of, the remastered version sounds really good.
But man, 'A Bolt of Blazing Gold' is such a good song.

quite fond of this, but not as much as Gallery and Fiction

Agreed, not quite as good as those albums, but not too far behind either. Hard to compare though, just because the style is so different even between this and The Gallery.

Absolutely. The average rating is abhorrent. There is no way that this is worse than Atoma.

As for the review, I liked it but I think Crimson Winds was also one of the highlights.

Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah the average for this should def be higher than Atoma or Construct. I'd think that if all the people who rated this low because of the raw production listened to the remastered version, the average would go up considerably.
And Crimson Winds is definitely a highlight on this one, easily one of my favorites on here.
