Well, it's a very eccentric album for sure.

I would definitely not say this is overrated though

I say its overrated cause alot of people say its his best album and I cannot fathom that being true, ever. It wins points for originality and its pretty damn epic in scope, but yeah, Ziggy absolutely mauls it IMO in terms of listenability and general awesomeness.

LEAVE THIS THREAD, HANS, LEAVE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!!! ; )

Judging by the ammount of 4.5's on here, i'd say its under-rated if anything.

Well Ziggy is classic man, I love that album to death too. All the variety on this and the incredible production still makes me wonder how it came out in '77. Ziggy no doubt has a much higher listening factor, but to be fair, Low is an album that takes so many risks, and pulls them all off effortlessly. So I mean in terms of listenability, you really can't even compare the two.

yeah I see where you're going. Im just a rock dude who likes to rock out and rock out hard when Im rocking the fuck out of rocking, so its easy to see why I would prefer Ziggy

Yea man, exactly. I have Ziggy at a 5 too, because like this, I find it to be pretty flawless. I just "prefer" listening to this.

I think the whole notion of picking his 'best' work is tredding on tenuous ground. But i think the three biggest works he's done - Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Low - are all his best. It's just up to the listener to pick their favourite - which will then become his best in their eyes. Mine is Low, without a doubt, but i adore the other 2 incredibly, also.

I would say the first half of this is a 4/4.5. I really do not care for the instrumentals that much. I just dont like "arty" shit I guess.

Agreed Tom.

See, the arty stuff is risky, and you're nowhere near the first person who is turned off by it. I totally appreciate your opinion, I'm not one of those assholes who dismisses someone immediately because of a different opinion.

the fact that you call it "arty" Hans means you're not ready.

I have signed up just so I can add a comment here.
For the last 6 months or so I've been massively getting into bowie, but surprisingly ziggy isnt one of my fave albums, I guess I just prefer bowie with a bit more weirdness, so my fave albums by him are station to station, low and heroes. And if I had to pick a number one, i'd pick station to station.
