Nah, I'm calling b/s on this review. =/

If she didn't like the harmonies now; how could she have liked them in their debut when they were far
more demanding. Something's not right here. This talk about similar sounding choruses is just
not...no, three (possibly four) tracks on this record have reoccurring choruses; 'Helplessness Blues',
'Grown Ocean', 'Lorelai' and possibly 'Bedouin Dress'.

Yeah...they do not sound the same.

Barely any of these songs have reoccurring choruses.

Yo, what does a chorus do?

They have vocal choruses, not reoccurring choruses. Different things Deviant. =P

I found the harmonies of 'The Plains' demanding at first, no? =/

-I don't know who Noctus is

-No =) I use them to evoke my expression I'm feeling because I'm I don't like coming across as
stale.

-And yeah, I've said all I've had to say. Well written review but it missed the lyrics (tends to be
a
major part of folklore) and some of the statements are ill information). Didn't realise Sputnik bit
the head off you if you bother to disagree with people. Like snapping turtles, seriously chill. I
always thought the community was nicer than this. But I've learned something. You're not allowed to criticize critics on their reviews when you think you should.

Fleet Foxes have like 2 songs that I enjoy listening to and even the end of helplessness blues pisses me off when the good part is over.

holy jesus, you act like it's impossible to criticize this album. this album's been out (including the >1month early leak) for nearly two months now, and i technically wrote this review twice because i felt that strongly about what i expressed. it's not as if i didn't give this band a chance out of predisposed personal bias, i expected to like it, honestly. assuming any reviewer didn't actually try to find depth to an album is incredibly asinine.

there's a flaw in your logic too, maybe i happened to like the more demanding harmonies? they had more accents, more layers (see: sun it rises), more development was done to make them memorable and actually integrate them as an more of an instrument among the rest as opposed to letting the vocals plainly overshadow the music and carry the entire melody safe for random instrumental interjection. the vocals on this record are just placcid and ignorable to me.

and again, lyrics do not save a musical work, ever. to focus an entire review on them (unless you're reviewing something that puts heavy accent on spoken word), is pulling the wool over why music is... music.

sigh, i'm just extending this shit out of this review. lol@wasting time

Vocals were done in one take this time around though. =P
And not to mention they reduced the amount of re-verb on them too, so that's probably why you don't
like how they sound here.

The reason I keep mentioning lyrics is that...well it's a folk album and something for me; that's
important to the genre and tone of the genre. They probably don't save the music but like hip-hop
lyricism and how they live within the music is a huge deal.

Do I act like it's flawless?, God no, I would have agreed with points about the doubled songs with
you on first listen but I grew to the idea of having a 'split personality'. I don't take the 5
rating as serious as others by the way. =P

lol @ descendents1 not knowing how to spell "descendants"

Descendents is a band buddy. Don't blame me for their idiosyncrasies.

and again, lyrics do not save a musical work, ever

Nothing could save "Enjoy Your Rabbit". Remember that? That sucked. I guess I agree.
