it's good to listen to these songs live, but this album blows. classical music and metal just fails horribly. i always laugh my ass off whenever i hear this album.

great review, except one thing.

S&M in this case means Symphony & Metallica

I always thought S&M stood for San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and Metallica.

"The Ecstasy Of Gold" is theme song from The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly. Metallica has been using that to open their shows ever since this performance. Just thought you would want to add that to your review. Well written though.

They used it for quite a while before this, at least since the Black Album came out but possibly longer...
Pity they didn't use more old stuff over Load and ReLoad stuff (Fuel and The Memory Remains are excellent on this though). This Message Edited On 01.10.09

meh, too many Load and Reload era songs which is unacceptable to me. Metallica's classic thrash is totally tailor-made for a concept like this. But no, we get fucking Devils Dance and Outlaw Torn.

Wherever I May Roam is the best song on this album. By best, I mean that it is the perfect Metallica song to be remade with a symphony. It goes perfectly together. Not saying that the other songs arent any good, but it feels like this song is made to be in a symphony. Also, its the only song on the album where after listening to it, you cant go back to the original. I just cant listen to the original song without wondering why there isnt any violins or horns.

''Nothing Else Matters'' has an awesome intro with the symphony.

Who gave this an 2- vote is a real anti-Metallica fan because this is their best work, after this they should have stopped playing
