"You're either a troll or tone deaf"
You must be describing yourself as the Crowded House version is so boring, just colourless like the worst of pop in the second half of the 80s.
The album art isn't great as has been said but that's not really a big deal.

The truth about this album is that it succeeds in what it is trying to do. It is a very soothing easy listening album with pleasant vocals and a warm Chrismas production. It has better melodies than the Taylor Swift album which I guess goes for the same middle of the road market. And Kanye West which apparently got to the top of the album charts did so because it is considered hip and fashionable more than anything.
It's definitely above average, and it doesn't make you look cool giving it a one (though people think it does, which is what is actually funny).
I am so all about what's hip and what's fashionable. Put them together and kablammo! Seriously, though, I blast out Erasure and Rick Astley all the time so don't really give a fuck, this just sucks my balls. If you think this talentless slob is better than Crowded House then your ears are fucked.

lol, you are the one who is going to extremes with your comments. I never said she is more talented than Crowded House but that I prefer her version of that song to theirs. Also credit should be given to the producer who does some good work on this album.

The music is, at best, production-line fodder. Half-assed and lifeless.

Yeah, you're a dumb troll. Steve Mac fucked up really badly here, that's not up for dispute. At all. Shut up and go away.

Well over a million people would disagree with you lol.
"A lot should be said about the choir. What a wonderful balance they bring to the song. The arranger should win a grammy"
"Whoever arranged and orchestrated this recording did a brilliant job - they complement Susan's understated but elegant vocals perfectly."
They are just two comments on Don't Dream It's Over. The arrangements of the other covers are interesting too.

yeah because albums sales mean something in pertinence to talent lol

Yeah dude that's why Nickelback is totally the best band ever

So does that mean Kanye West is crap then, as he got to No1 as well. I think his album is crap.
I'm not a big fan of SuBo but my original point was that this album isn't anywhere near as bad as some want to make out. It's most likely alot better than her first as it has some quite sensitive recordings on it.

It means popularity has absolutely no bearing on quality whatsoever.
|

So that means what is popular on Sputnik might be crap?
|
| |
yes. generally sputnik has better taste in music than the lowly plebeians who buy albums like these though

The arrangements on all the covers are beyond awful

I think you got those comments from Youtube, in which case you would have done better by going to a special education class for 5 year olds.
I have a friend who has been a music producer for a year and he was stunned at the arrangement, he's done better in his sleep.

This is pretty bad, honestly. Not even her voice helps this out, really.

What the fuck happened to this review? Looks like it was edited to oblivion and it used to be one of the funniest reviews on this whole site...now it's just terrible.

The album is tightly, crisply constructed. From the first meaty clatter of ‘12/23/93’, it’s obvious that the drumming on display here is a real presence, a firm bedrock underpinning everything else on display. The guitars beat out blunt, energetic rhythms, seamlessly interspersed with melodic streams that temper the anger and frustration of the music with genuine beauty. It hasn’t aged penks partly to their European record label, Poison the Well sent ripples of excitement around the world with their debut ep, [i]Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fnye West cares about himself, about money, about pussy, religion and black people. Unfortvoice ties together the deceptively simple instrumentation, and from the opening beat of 'Hands' to the anthemic close of the title track, Running Out of Places to Go goes about its business with its feet on the table and a smile on its face. You could call it unassuming, but with this type of quality, unassuming is a sign ofside, and that is glossy, uber-melodic music with a heavyweight punch. And Chiodos certainly deliver on those fronts. The rather awkwardly titled Illuminaudio is a huge, polished affair - one bristling with a newfound, and sorely needed, energy. Any fears that new singer Brandon Bolmer would throw an unwelcome spanner in the works have been proved dramatically wrong; it might b Me’, to the thundering, monolithic ‘Not Within Arms Length’, it was obvious that Poison the Well had found their feet. The integration of post-hardcore aesthetics, melodies and structures took them away from their previous, more metal incarnation, providing a rounded, full sound that they would develop even further in later releases. But for now they were still firmly metalcore, and the spark caused by The Opposite of December resonates throughout the genre to this day.
