Its still my favorite Deftones album with Diamond Eyes coming in close behind it. Its just got everything I love about them in it - the heavy aspect from the older albums, the atmospheric aspect of White Pony, and the dark theme throughout. Plus Bloody Cape, which is one of the best Deftones songs ever.

yeah I think their total control of mood, atmosphere and overall aesthetic almost peaked with that album. they've still grown as songwriters with each release, but they were pretty much painting pictures with textural wizardry on that one.
