Yeah it’s slightly interesting hearing them develop their sound on their debut, and it’s cool to hear how good PG sounded even at that age. But I just find the songs grating and the band has pretty much ejected it from their main discography anyway. It’s a novelty to me at best.
Agreed about Duke, love that album. But I’ll go to bat for everything between W&W and I Can’t Dance so take that as you will.

In relation to your first paragraph, I completely agree.
About the second one, I'm not so positive. I strongly defend Wind & Wuthering and ...And Then There Were Three... Duke is a very nice album too, but less nice. The albums from that point are good but are clearly in a lower point in relation to all their previous ones.

That’s fair enough! I know those albums are generally liked a lot less, I still dig them though. Abacab and the self-titled are really spotty but their high points are great imo. And IT is just a really solid pop album. But I get it.

It took multiple plays for this to really break through, but it's absolutely lovely. Looking For Someone, White Mountain, and The Knife have quietly become some of my favourite Genesis tracks over the past couple weeks

This is a unique album in the discography of the band. I think it's the most pure and naive (in the good sense) of Genesis. It's also one of their most beautiful albums too. Sincerely, it was love at the first sight, in my case.

I legit like this more than Foxtrot atm BUT I'm gonna give that the same treatment I gave this. This wasn't immediate for me, and honestly neither was Selling England. Some of the prog rock classics I've come to really love took multiple spins to fully get in the headspace for. I can almost always identify standout tracks and enjoy them to some degree, but it's all about repetition for me.

I think that is one of the characteristics of prog rock. Besides, in many of the prog rock works, we must evaluate the all and not the parts. The sum of the parts are the real thing that makes that many of those works make sense especially if we are talking about concept works, which is one the characteristics of many of those works.
