"The part at the end of Marigold when the drums are going crazy and the horns are starting to kick in is like getting a glimpse of God. And all songwriters should be forced to listen to Lung Full Of Light and learn that in the right hands subtlety can sometimes elevate a song from good to mindblowing."

Getting a glimpse of God... Forced to listen to... Mindblowing. There we go Alex, the shell has been busted open.

"It never ceases to amaze me at how much this site loves Indie bands."

It's me doing the writing... I am by no means an indie-head.

"Pretty nifty to use The alchemy index as a comparison, though I don't agree with it, it was an interesting comparison. "

Thanks Felix. I wasn't 100% certain about this analogy, since it's a tad exaggerated. But I don't think it's off the mark either, and was the best way to put what I felt about the song in writing.

"So am I an extroverted indie-hipster or an introverted post-rocker?"

I think you're both Rosco.

"Great review of course, would I like this?"

Thanks Ali. I can't guarantee you will 4.5 it, but I can't see how anyone would hate it. So yeah, you'll at the very least "like" it... & maybe love it.

"This is one of the greatest, most beautiful albums i have ever heard. Ever"

All aboard the hype train peoples.

Come on Dev, I went to a lot of trouble & took a lot of time for all that. Plus, every kiwi should be in a good mood right now. This album will make you even more euphoric.

* The word "euphoric' has just been mentioned as it was on Davey's list of words to use in this review, which didn't quite make it in.

I have downloaded this twice and both of them have been phony. I feel like Holden Caulfield or something.

If you're referencing what I think you are referencing, then I am extremely happy. I'm half kiwi and Italian, and I got the best possible outcome. Both my teams won haha

Yeah I agree. Soon as I read it I knew what to expect. So it worked well to explain the song.

My memory so sucks... I had to google Holden Caulfield o refresh it.

Yes Dev, I am referencing that... But the extra bit of news you just shared now has me having this mental picture of you half-diving.

Thanks Felix. Exactly my objective.

Hmm, it's lunchtime & I suddenly feel like some nasi goreng.

So anyway Dougie, how many are Cahill & Bresciano gonna score tonight? If they listen to Parades for some motivation, they may run riot.

Pretty good review Davey, though I definitely think you went a bit over the top. Album to me has great songs and weak songs with little middle ground. Marigold, Dead Nationale, Past Lives, Loserspeak, and one other I can't remember are all awesome, the rest not so much. After numerous listens the songs I like have gotten better and the ones I'm not so keen on worse.

Boulet did indeed record and produce the album I'm pretty sure.

Aussies gonna win 5-0 tonight.

I listened to a live version of "Dead Nationale" on youtube and it reminded me of Facing New York, except these guys are better.

Thanks sgrevs. Your rating is the lowest thus far... You hater. While I was writing the review, I knew I may have been going over the tope, but every time I listen to the album, I think otherwise.

I think I know where you are coming from with the songs you don't like. It's the more electronic & experimental mid-section. I had the same issue with Boulet's solo album, but I think this album flows a great deal better. In a way, 'Lung Full of Light' is the lynch-pin. If you get into that, I think it will all come together for you.

I have seen the one you mean starttostop & was going to include it in a blog or something. There is a similar version of 'Marigold' on YouTube, but it's not as good since it does not have the array of instruments used on the album (namely horns).
