Yeah, just start with the pentatonic scale and learn to play it fast with a metronome. And then work from there. A bunch of these blues or rockers just practice the shit out of that scale...and yes, it rocks, but it really is nothing. The part that is hard is actually playing with soul.

Music for me is one of those things. As a musician, I don't care if a song is technical or simple. I mean, I like me some technical shit. However, the hardest part of writing songs whether simple or hard is actually displaying real emotion, soul, or drive. If you play heartless music, it shows, and it sucks.

Dude, when I started writing songs 13 years ago. I sucked at playing guitar, but the music I listened to at the time developed into my own style. I never really learned other people's songs because I didn't want to effect my individuality. Even though the shit I wrote back then wasn't great, I would record it, and figure out what I wanted to do differently, which helped become a better songwriter. You almost just have to do it.
