Haha agreed. A friend of mine said he couldn't get into the album for that reason, makes no sense to me. The lyrics on this are brilliant, regardless of how the came to be.

Thom was clearly in a very anxious, paranoid place at the time of writing and recording. This is clearly reflected in how coherent the lyrical content is, regardless of the unorthodox method of writing he chose.
