I'm loving that no one has yet to rate this lower than a 3.5 haha

Bout time this album came out. Pretty much what I was expecting so I'm not overly blown away by it. Still good though.

Ive had my eye on this band for awhile, cant say this stuff is blowing me away, and I much perfer Karnivool for my Aussie taste.

The music itself doesn't necessarily sound like what Karnivool, Cog, The Butterfly Effect, etc. have made, but the approach is almost exactly the same. The production is very clean, the songs are catchy but not poppy, the vocals are front-and-center, there are touches of metal and moments of artiness but no real extremes. People who like what those other bands have made will like this, but none of those bands have made albums of a transcendent quality and this is no different.

I would argue that Sound Awake and The New Normal are both albums of transcendent quality - especially the latter.

Yeah, the quality is transcendent, especially so on The New Normal. I would argue that.

And you quite literally just rearranged my sentence to be annoying. Why didn't you give up the first time?

I left out mention of Sound Awake. Too legit to quit.

this is great but i can't say it's anything more than that. the clean production grows a little stale over time, and the songs don't have quite the intent or overall punch as those on the self-titled EP.

a little too many epic numbers with slow fade-outs hampers the run of the album.

still some gold, no doubt.

I am loving the new songs so much, can't wait to get the actual album cranking.

Love your review also.

I have had a few good listens to this now and although I enjoy their EP's this album isn't doing much for me. It is pleasant to listen to and all that but it isn't doing enough to seperate it from other bands that do this style of music much better.

I also feel that the shorter harder songs such as Next In Line work far better for them than the build up songs like The Drum, will keep listening may be a grower but it is in 3 territory for me at the moment.
