Fantastic musical experience. Everyone should listen to this at least one time in their lives.

Yeah. This is pretty powerful. One of the few pieces of music that has moved me to tears.

Yeah, that rendition is so amazing in Penderecki's hands and on Beth Gibbons's lips.

How does it compare to the Zinman rendition?

@Jac: hard to say, so much of my love of that rendition is tied to my first exposure to it. certainly punches in the same echelon and I like that e: new version is more restrained

"Yeah, that rendition is so amazing in Penderecki's hands and on Beth Gibbons's lips."

It's very good and an interesting take on a contemporary classical symphony, yet it makes the whole piece sound very different. Listening to an opera trained singer like Zofia Kilanowicz on this has a way more cathartic effect on my ears. The approach is so different the result ends up being different too. Gibbons's performance makes this sound very modern and cinematic, which has its pros and its cons. Coming from a classical background myself I appreciate having this new version, but I still prefer the operatic, classical approach tbh
