True Belief's chorus is really haunting.
Jammed this and Shades of God today, I think Shades may be my favorite PL at the moment. I need to binge on these guys hard.

Interesting choice for a favourite. Draconian Times is the best imo.

This is mine, but DT and Shades also rule, of course.

I dig that they went for longer tracks on Shades, definitely a thumbs up from me because I love the calm/heavy interplay. Also I dig the vocals.
Jamming Gothic now. I've been slacking on this band and it was a big mistake. The Plague Within woke me up.

Icon is an amazing album but the band that created gothic metal are Celtic Frost not Paradise Lost.
Also Shades of God is equally amazing IMO. :P

Into the Pandemonium had its role, but I wouldn't say it created the genre at all.

How the fuck did Celtic Frost invent gothic metal?

Well, I think he said that cuz the album I mentioned has a bunch of influences going around, including gothic rock.

How the fuck Celtic Frost invented gothic metal? are you kidding me? have you ever listened to Into the Pandemonium? ITP clearly has gothic/darkwave influences and straight references to Christian Death, early The Cure and Sisters like the cleaner almost Rozz Williams vocals of Warrior in Mesmerized, Sorrows of the Moon and the Sisters of Mercy-like refrain of I Won't Dance with the double vocals for example. If you can't hear that then I don't know what to say, maybe you have to listen to more gothic I guess.
Also if ITP didn't create the genre I'd like to know which metal album before that had so many clear influences from gothic/darkwave.

True Belief is great, but I still think Enchantment off Draconian Times is their epic

"True Belief is great, but I still think Enchantment off Draconian Times is their epic"
I've said it a million times, I'll say it again: Jaded is their best song ever to me. A brooding, simple, haunting, doom metal classic that exemplifies everything the genre should be.
