I hope this is a grower album cause it's not doing much for me right now.

My Dying Bride are lost "touch of class" (tocco di classe in Italian = Innovation)

This album is fantastic. It took me more than 10 listens to realise just how good it was. Musically it's quite simple but everything fits together perfectly and the band's sound is very mature. There isn't a single bad song on this album and everything flows very nicely.

I give it 9.5/10

It's not horrible, but it's definitely not a 5. Even if it's only compared to other albums in the band's discography it's not a 5.

Funny. I like overly pretentious music but jamming to a MDB album makes me want to forsake my metal roots altogether and become an HXC Emmure worshipping tool with gauges and a faux hawk.

I'm a HXC internet tool that used to have a faux hawk. God!!!! Alright, what is MDB's most consistent, i've heard about 3 of their albums and I dislike them all.

If you don't like The Angel and the Dark River, TLTS, or The Dreadful Hours, then you can give up on this band.

I feel this album is hugely underrated. I really like their other albums, especially 'A Line Of Deathless Kings' and 'The Dreadful Hours' but this album is better because it just works perfectly from start to finish. After about 5 listens I thought it was decent but not really good. It then took me several more listens to start to appreciate how perfectly everything fits together. I think My Dying Bride is one of those bands that has become better and better as they got older and this album has a really refined sound.

That's the best advice you're going to get, Balls.

Granted, this album might catch undeserved flack because people were excited about the return of the violin only to dislike how it was used here, but it doesn't change the fact that it's just not as strong as some of their older albums. MDB hasn't steadily become better - they've hit highs and lows through their career.
