I think that's the thing with "unique" prog, most of the lower ratings it might get are from people that didn't like the album but that can see what makes them so good and why they get praise, basically I believe these are cases of "It isn't my thing but it is definitely awesome". I think the same thing can be said about bands like Magma or Los Jaivas and that's why all of them get so many 4.0's which is the rating that mostly describes what I said haha

Right, those were my initial feelings towards this album, but it's grown on me. I think with these kind of albums once you get past the initial shock you get to appreciate the subtleties.

That's my case with Magma, it isn't really my thing but I think it deserves even more praise that the one it gets
In the case of Los Jaivas however I love them because of the incredible technical talent and cause they're one of the best things lyrically speaking, and in this case because it creates one of the most singular atmospheres ever (an atmosphere which I love)

BTW Gentleman, have you tried Lucio Battisti - Anima Latina? It's Italian, but it's inspired by latino music and really amazing stuff. Totally up your alley, the sound is somewhere between Los Jaivas, Love, and even Sigur Ros in places.
