Hahaha.

Actually, I don't think musically it's better. I mean the drums and bass were much more flashy, but the guitar on this is better. But STST was so cohesive, every song was good. Even when they went on for 6 minutes. To me, Walking The Fallen drags on. Some songs are just boring and repetitive. But it's still a cool album

why doesnt everyone here just stop moaning and bitching endlessly about genres (the only way THAT argument could get worse is if people start throwing out random words followed by "-core") and whether or not they "sold-out"?!?!?!?!

as far as im concerned, the only way a band can "sell out" is if they change very drastically over a very short period of time and have no reason for it other than wanting more money. many bands have signed to major labels and kept their integrity, such as AFI and Rise Against (the first two that come to my head).

as for the genre? are you all really so sad that you need a label to pigeonhole the music people make? fair enough, compare them to other bands to give people an idea of the sound, but genres? theyre a pile of old arse.

Ok, I'm not trying to pull the OG/Holier-than-thou card, but I can guarantee you I've been into them longer than 99.9% of the people on this board, and I've witnessed them change since WTF came out. They changed a lot musically, which I don't mind, but the way they presented themselves to the public did change drastically after they got popular and got signed to a major, and not for the better.

I always thought that was rather obvious.

I own this record and only find two songs enjoyable.

No Streets def. isnt the most punk song on the album, and if you wanna talk bout that song atleast get the album right, it was in sounding the seventh trumpet, but thats besides the point. I really like the review and how you get in depth with god and cain in chapter four, I just think its so cool how they got their name out of the bible and stuff, that just amazes me. But great review, i can see what your coming from.

avenged sevenfold nu-metal? That's funny, because I think that they are the next pantera practically. You cannot deny the sheer pantera influence these guys have. I think that they are simply metal, with a little senseless screaming. wtf is a killer album though.

Awesome CD. Just picked it up about 3 weeks ago. The Unholy Confessions song kicks ass especially when you can play it yourself. Yeah, fun song. That Chapter Four song is good to. Over all, good album. Good purchase.

Well I've had both cd's for a while now and i only have one major complaint about this band: After listening to both albums, all other music (regardless of genre) just seams so...dissapointing. Ha, maybe im just a ignorant piece of shiite muslim, but it's hard now to find any similar music, as well as music of very different breeds that keeps me as entertained as this band. Amazing. Oh and one more thing, would anyone care to shed some light on just where the Avenged Sevenfold name comes from in conjunction with the bible? I never knew that and it seems pretty interesting...thanks.

It doesn't sound like the band name comes from the Bible but I know Sounding The Seventh Trumpet is a reference to the apocalypse as told in Revelations. There were 7 angels, each who blew a trumpet that brought a "plague." That's what I remember. I haven't specifically researched or cited any of this, this is just what I remember from reading.

I didn't like the drums that much on this album. I think avenged sevenfold are awesome but I don't like how they go on tours with lots of EMO bands. I thought shadows screams were a little different than screamo bands. On remenissions it sounds so evil when he first comes in with that low snarling scream. But on other tracks I just can't help but think that it sounds a little screamo. I read an interview where they said they weren't going to do screamo metal anymore and shadows was going to use a lot more of his natural singing voice. great album great band.

Hahaha! Not better than Joey? Joey's solos are bland, stupid, wankery. All he does is hit his snare, toms and double bass (not very fast i might add) as quickly as is humanly possible. Have you not hear the drum fills in The Beast and The Harlott?

Out of the 3 A7X albums, Waking the Fallen is my favourite, slightly edging out Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. I thought Matt's clean vocals were the best on this album, and there was still a healthy mix of screaming.

STST just has a little too much screaming for me, not something I could listen to while trying to get something done.
