I'm going to take a guess and say it probably has to do with censorship. Looking at the popularity of this album and lack of 'Parental Advisory' stickers on this, it would be a safe bet to say that is the reason. Have you done any research into this on the internet? That is great line by the ways.

Rasp, I do enthusiastically applaude your glorious command of the English language, and bask in the revelry of your in depth evaluation. Refreshing, to say the least. Thank you for a good read.

My pleasure. As for the censoring thing, I'm not really sure what's going on with that. I've never come across a censored version of the song, but I haven't heard every version of it, so I don't know.

Hey brother man, cool review! Isn't it cool to spew disdane along with Waters and crew? My favorite lyric is "you ****ed up old hag" . . man I can really dig that. But, on my reconstituted version of the remastered, readulterated, copiously translated CD copy, this lyric does not ring out as it did in the original vinyl version. Bummer. Can anyone tell me why? Could it be the pigs at work once again? Are they fearful of all the mediocre transients that might applaude such a phrase? Ahhh the glories of censorship, but thankfully they cannot block out our mindful thoughts. This review is almost as good as the album. Almost because I believe that socialism had not been proven as a failure. It was the radical form of socialism, communism, that Orwell predicted would, and eventually did, lead to authoritarian governments which in the end corrupted the idea of an utopia. The ideas of social justice, on the other hand, continues to have a major impact in the politics of many European, Latin American, African and Asian nations, as evidenced by the many socialist and social democratic parties that are in power in both the developed and developing countries. Countries like France, Norway and Sweden continue to have socialist governments which are arguably some of the most successful and responsible in history.

Thank you for the kind words. I do agree with you to an extent, social democracy is (currently) the most feasible form of governance, although it can sometimes be a slippery slope, and any socialist tendencies must be thoroughly checked in order to prevent a slide into communist and possibly authoritarian rule. I think the current crises across the world due to the more right wing/liberal beliefs have opened the eyes of some, and I tried to get that message across with the review. I also believe it is the album's message too.

A solid Pink Floyd album. the musicianship is quiet amazing. Sometimes repetitive though.

Great review but I disagree when you say Pigs on the Wing (Pts. 1 and 2) are love songs. They are the bookends of the concept lyrically.

It's not me making an assumption that they are love songs, Waters himself has stated that they were songs written for his wife. However, I do think they are relevant to the concept, lyrically, and I'm quite certain I elaborate extensively on that point.

I love this album, it is a masterpiece. The only compliment I can make is that the review did it justice.

Fine. My favorite Pink Floyd album, which I happen to think is also their best. I don't like Welcome to the Machine, there isn't anything on this album I dislike.
