Always felt this was a bit underrated but I’m also not a huge REM fan. New Adventures is their best for me.

at the peak of my REM fandom this was just kinda mid-tier for me. now it's one of the funner ones to revisit

American 80s Alt Rock bands who made it big after years of being in the business and always kept their integrity are the best bands.

Strange Currencies is one of their best ballads, flat-out.

“I need a chance, a second chance a third chance a fourth chance

A word, a signal, a little nod a breath just to fool myself, to catch myself to make it real.”

Genuinely one of my fave pieces of music/lyricism ever that.

Stipes voice is up there with the very best for me.

The early gigs in the 80s on YouTube are incredible.

My first gig ever was actually R.E.M. back in 2005 with my father.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who digs this band, or maybe they're just older folk in general.

Younger me thought "Star69" was the best song on this record, because it was the most fun. I bought it on cassette, and had it until it melted to my dad's leather carseat.

What's the Frequency Kenneth? is definitely a top 10 R.E.M. song (which is really impressive because they're so incredible). Thank you to Under the Silver Lake for reminding me of this. What a fuckin' movie.
