Excluding Buz McGarth guitar tricks this album is average at best. An incredible letdown from the previous III! :/

Their live show was so fucking energetic it was definitely awesome. I'm not too big on listening to them on cd, but live made me appreciate them more. They played two songs off of this cd, although I don't really remember what ones they were.
Protest let me down, however they were cool dudes.

how were the acacia strain and whitechapel?
also, the cutman breakdown is so heavy.

chan was right. i got halfway through my will be done and i turned it off due to the dragon force sweeps and trite vocal delivery. they'd be better off not letting us hear the lyrics and becoming a noise metal group

I gave the stream a listen a few nights back and was disappointed. I gave each song a 30 second chance to redeem itself today in HMV and it failed. Albums sucks the big one!

I've heard worse this year but the fact that Unearth hasn't progressed since their last album and the lack of chances taken makes this poop. If I wanted to hear the same album written twice, I would go listen to Slayer.

like my last comment stated, i seriously despise this dragonforce/pinball machine-esque sweeping that so many metal bands imitate.
twas only slightly enjoyable to begin with and now i freely associate it with guitar hero/rock band whathaveyou

Are sweeps against the rules now or something? Anyways, I thought album was very solid. No they didn't try anything too risky but I think they are moving in a more melodic direction. It was nice to hear them display their guitar playing chops. Might like this a little better the III but have to take a few more listens. Favorite tracks so far are Grave of Opportunity and We Are Not Anonymous.

Got my physical copy of this today, the special edition book packaging is pretty cool, DVD is funny too.
The actual album is great, but a few of the songs sound similar, but hey, it's Unearth, so them being similar doesn't matter 'cause it means they're all awesome.

I'm not that big of a fan of Unearth, but I saw them last night with Protest the Hero and they blew the lid off the House of Blues. I've never seen a band have such a disparity between their album and their live show. I highly recommend their live show.

It has been done to death, the direction they are going in.
but I saw them last night with Protest the Hero and they blew the lid off the House of Blues.
I will admit to this too and say that when I saw them live, they absolutely ripped me a new one.

Are sweeps against the rules now or something? not necessarily. But to do nearly identical sweeps as several other bands do frequently is boring and unoriginal
and the lyrics tend to blow

The Oncoming Storm is better than this (though III is better than TOS)
