I don't own the album so I won't rate it. But let me say this: if Matt would learn how to properly growl instead of squawking like a like chicken with a fuzzbox wired to its larynx, I would probably buy the album.

Musically, the only complaint is that the songs I've heard get a little same-y in the riffs.

But those god-awful vocals just kill it for me! If he was a better screamer, had proper technique, it would be better. But as it is, his voice is like audio herpes. This Message Edited On 04.17.06

I really really really hate Trivium, and you dont do them a whole lot of justice in this review. You take quite a fanboyish stance towards them. Be less biased next time.

I will use this comment to post that the last thing that 1 of my friends wrote in their diary before they cut themselves to death was from Departure.

"Open My Arms, Bleed Out The Flood, In Crimson I Begin To drown".

Well, obviously for him its a really sad moment and to see mudvaynian just push it aside like that and say its a great album(wich it is). Must not be easy.

By the way remial, sorry about your friend. Its never fun to hear about a teenagers suicide.

I don't really understand the hypeness of this band. I like all kinds of Metal, well, every kind to be honest, but this band feature one of the worst vocals of the metalworld (the 1st price goes to Fred Durst). The riffs are sometimes indeed recycled, but many times I find them quite enjoying, but everyone about, oooh they are sooooo talented. Lets put the bass first. Ok, forget about that one, cos it seems that they killed the bassist, second the guitarists. There are some pretty decent riffing and soloing, but at the time, every average metal band is able to do such things. Then we have the drumming, again very average. I would even say average to bad, since the drummer hasn't got any feeling, creativity or technique in his drumming. Even the speed is low compared to other drummers. Then we have the utterly crap growling/screaming vocals, and the decent singing vocals. I have heard better before though. As you can see, none of the band members really stand out.

I don't know, I prefer their newer stuff to this a lot more. The only track here I can listen all the way through here is The Decieved.

Off the new album, I liked Detonation. Anthem wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I feel they can do better.

Expect to see a review of The Crusade by me.This Message Edited On 09.11.06

Are your average metal bands' members around the age of 20? Cut them some slack. I personally love the vocals.

The age of a band is a nice novelty, but it means nothing without consistency. The members of Edguy are all rather young, and they've released some great material over the course of their career.

Michale Graves was 19 when he joined The Misfits. And he's been pounding out some great tunes in his solo career as well.

Stevie Wonder recorded his first songs when he was just a kid, and he's had one of the most influential and successful careers of any musician of our time.

The age of a musician shouldn't be a factor. It's the effort that counts.

I don't know what to think, because honestly I thought this was a very good album...Sometimes I wonder if just because a band gets popular we all need to bash them... Its gotten old, but their last album was not that good in my opinion

Good review, but I don't really think this album deserves a 5/5

^Yeah, not quite a 5/5. There aren't really any bad songs here, but if I had to choose my least favourite one it would be "Drowned and Torn Asunder."
