o and WMUWSE has nothing to do with politics and the video is just trying to place it in the story of the album...the song in one interpretation is a period of rest for the Jesus of Suburbia and in the other is about Billies Dad who died when he was young and the month of september always seems to bring him bad luck

I believe that Bush is an idiot too, but that doesn't mean that I should get a pat on the back. In a world of "punk" music, it is sad that when a band finally says something dissident, everyone heralds them. Hello? That's a fundamental of punk rock music. Just because most pop-punk bands today couldn't tell a political cry from a box of eye-liner, it doesn't mean that Green Day is so big and bold.

eliminator, i think ur a little confused here. This site is meant to give reviews on albums dude. Then you comment on how the review was formatted. Thats why it asks if the review was well written or not. You dont go and start offending ppl senselessly, which is the point i wanted to make.

Vicy77 your an idiot. Why would they give an album rating bar if they didn't want an opinion? Hell, a review is an opinion on an album. Alot of you need to shut the fuck up about "Your opinion doesn't matter" and other senseless comments.

And Jesus Christ, enough with the comments on how they didn't sell out. I haven't seen a single comment on them selling out yet. And enough with the political shit. We all know the story and such by now.

vicy77, cheeto-t has it right. The purpose of this site is for people to give opinions on albums, provided they're expressed in a decent way. If people don't like an album, they're quite entitled to criticise it as much as they like, so long as they don't get offensive. And yes, I really think people know the story behind this album now. I hope so, anyway.

some ppl might do that but if others say they dont like them cuz there only like 3 chords or that becuz they sold out(which is an argument that will never be won by either side) or stuff like that are just voicing their opinion on the album which is what this site is about. but ones who come in and say "green day just plain sucks" is wrong to say anything like that without backing it up
Everything done on this album has been done before, not just once or twice but a million times by a million different bands; it's getting old now.
Speaking of which, I would like to point out the blatant ripoff of Cheap Trick's "Surrender" in "Whatsername".

Look I don't want to sound biased but their musical ability now is better than it used to be. Sure their solos aren't that great but that doesn't make a song better. Remember Brainstew, that song was easy as hell to play. The stuff on American Idiot is more complicated than that.

When you're talking punk, complicated = bad.

This album blows, but the review was good.

Best song on this album IMO is Jesus of Suburbiafollowed by Holiday(The video can suck my nut). In my cd Holiday is called "On Holiday" is it supposed to be that or what? I hate Homecoming, whatshername, the she's a rebel thingie. This album is too emo for my liking. I prefer Longview and stuff like that. Listen to old Metallica (Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets) for complicated, cool, and long song structures. Punk should be simple, straight to the pt. and fun. Middle part of the cd is ALL filler. This Message Edited On 10.20.05
When you're talking punk, complicated = bad.
That is one of those horrible cliches that is constantly associated with punk. Look at Dr. Know or all three guitar players in Bad Religion; they play with modest technicality, but yet it's all usually within the punk format.

Theatre has changed throughout ages ever since it was first staged in ancient greece. They had to change with the times to keep people happy, and if you dont think that times have changed and think that the only thing that made greeenday sell out was because they went for a new style, then maybe you should read up a bit on why everything else throughout history became so much more popluar. They had to adjust to peoples liking. This Message Edited On 10.21.05
