I wish ppl would release albums with all the B-Sides on, like Oasis did with The Masterplan. I don't like downloading (it's a crime IMO) so it's hard to get hold of em

The B-sides for this album are disgraceful, Time being THE worst Chilis song this side of 'I would die for you'

A step in the wrong direction for the Chilis IMO, but if they're happy with it, what can you do. Live long and prosper my brothers in funk

I think you've been too harsh on this album. Personally, I love the Chillies and I think the last few albums have been great [excluding One Hot Minute]. If you listen to previous RHCP records, you'll be able to hear that the band has matured, whether or not you like them.

By The Way is great because of all the different styles and ideas and sounds floating around - It's boring when you hear an album with tracks that sound all virtually the same. However, I can see why some of the tracks of this album may not appeal to everyone because the Chillies have a very unique style, and you've gotta respect that.

To led-zep-chris: How can you love this album and hate One Hot Minute?

In my opinion, this is their worst album, and only 2 songs are worth mentioning. I agree with Knoxville, this is a step down. Decent review, though.

This album may have seemed it was all over for the chilis Funk Rock stylings but their new album is out in October (I think) and John Frusciante was quoted saying it has some of their heaviest and funkiest songs yet, with some good melodies- you know John!

One Hot Minute is a beast, totally different to everything else, heavier and more guitar based rock from my main man Dave Navarro

To ::Entwistle:: - One Hot Minute was recorded with Dave Navarro and definitely isn't in true, classic Chillies style, he didnt have the same musical background and style as John Frusicante and altogether, One Hot Minute was a huge letdown, read for yourself in the Anthony Kiedis biography!

It's that pure funk-rock spirit that makes RHCP so good, in my opinion. It's different to anything else you'll ever listen to. By The Way shows great musicianship between the band and maturity in writing style, plus the songs are kick-arse. Like I said before, I think people are being way too harsh on this album.

It's an autobiography actually and Chili has one "L" ( in the case of RHCP) and Dave Navarro brought a different style, just because it's different does't mean it's rubbish just alternate to "classic chilis".

ill admit its not as good as their previous albums, but i still liked the way they stepped away from their rock/funk and showed their mature side, while still making some catchy tunes. "dosed", "tear", and of course "cant stop" remain some of my all time favorites. i still pop this cd in all the time and listen to it from beginning to end.

This album totally rocks. It's a softer, more mature sounding side of the Chili Peppers, but it's still the Peppers. It's not as funky as "BloodSugarSexMagic" or any albums before, but it showed how much of the spectrum that the Peppers as a whole can encompass. Buy it if you haven't unless you are too ignorant to accept the awesomeness of it.
