This is in no way the best Pink Floyd album. It's good, but doesn't come close to Wish You Were Here or Dark Side of the Moon...

Wow. Me likes.

Considering how people never shut up about this album, I bought it (after the main three of course). Again - wow. It's really good. Not as beautiful as WYWH, but it's not meant to be! As you stated, it's Roger Waters at his most cynical. And it's great. Current favourite is Dogs. The solos in that are gorgeous.

This could be a new favourite....

Third best PF album for me

Absolutely brilliant. Much dirtier and edgier than anything else they did. I didn't like Waters much before I heard this, now I recognise him as the legend he is

Ehh, Roger Waters is a brilliant songwriter, but his ego is too much for me. But this album is pure genius, bar Sheep. I really don't like the song, it's boring, repetitive, and the citing of Psalm 23 annoys me. They could've picked a better animal to write an allegory about, from Animal Farm, too. In the book, they had a very minor role. He could've picked horses, because they basically had the same mindset as the sheep, but more importance. Just my .02.

Undoubtedly the best album ever created, period. Also, in my opinion, all statements regarding individual songs and null and void because Animals is meant to be listened to as a complete album.

I don't really notice. I've known this song for ages, and I had to read the album booklet to realise it's even in there. But yeah, Sheep isn't the best song on the album, but I like it a lot and don't find it repetitive at all.

Sheep > Dogs

I'm being completely honest. I don't know what it is, but I've always prefered Sheep over Dogs.

Dogs is my favourite Floyd song, but Sheep is totally awesome, I don't see why it's so unpopular. Rick's intro in it is fantabulous.

Both albums are nothing special compared to Floyds earlier work.

Animals > DSOTM just because Animals has 'Dogs' possibly the greatest song of all time.

Except that Floyd's earlier work is crap. Pre-Meddle is all rubbish by comparison.
