Yeah this album does have some very annoying songs (Everything Ends, Heretic Anthem, Skin Ticket, and Iowa).

This album is a bit heavy for my tastes. The guitar's are monstrous, and the fury of slipknot is unleashed without restraint in thier furious vocals. The strong opener, People=Sh*t is probably the best on the album. Very intense throughout, except for brief light moments like Skin Ticket and Left Behind. Speaking of left behind, that song sticks out in this album like a sore thumb. It seems like slipknot wanted to get a song on the radio, so it made Left Behind poppish. Still a pretty good song though. Overall a good album. This is as close to mainstream death metal as your going to get.

Not really, they aren't death metal in any sense. Even if you say they are heavier then most mainstream bands doesn't make them death metal. Real death metal bands are actually getting attention though, I've heard some Nile and Behemoth on the radio as of late.

this album is awesome, i dont know how you can say that it doesnt portray an 'evil' and depressing image, i mean, actually listen to the songs, Everything Ends for example, is pretty dam depressing if you know what Corey is saying in his lyrics.. overall, i think it was an alright review, but it kinda seems like there was some prejudice against slipknot here..
