I don't like the guitar solos. When Tom was wiht RATM the solos were bizarre, but they made sense and sounded cool. Now His solos are just weird, over distorted and don't sound good.
I think there are some interesting guitar solos. I wouldn't really call most of them solos. They seem more to me like short breaks in the music that is used to throw in an interesting effect.

This album is one of my favorite new rock albums in my collection. Back when Audioslave debuted they were good...most of the songs here are catchy and fun to listen to in the car, at parties, at school, or at work...which the three are where most of my music listening takes place normally. Sure the riffs arent the most challenging but who said music has to be judged by a member's talent? As long as their making music that is appealing to the ear then what is the big deal? Besides...the riffs get somewhat challenging...trust me i've looked up the tabs for like half of these and I mean when I was a beginner I thought I was the sh*t because I could play these haha =)! Anyway this is the best (and only) good Audioslave album.

i think this and and OoE are quite close, but this has a little more edge to it.
Hypnotize is a nice tune; cool bassline + trademark lowregister Cornell vocals; always liked that one.

A Summer record if I ever saw one. Hard and heavy, eek dare I say, very macho. Take off you shirt and beat ur chest while screaming every lyric in the middle of the highway/desert. Very good record, and it def lives up to its hype. Shame it was downhill from here. =(

Audioslave can quite frankly bite me. "Like A Stone" is a great song and they have a few good ones, but nothing that justifies the destruction of Rage and Soundgarden. You'd think that a more melodically/dramatically-oriented guy like Cornell could have tippped the Rage boys onto some interesting new ideas. The intro to Killing in the Name Of is my favorite part of any Rage song and I don't really like Rage. Audioslave had a bunch of potential. This CD is their worst because with the exception of the ballads, it sounds as if Cornell just sang over a bunch of Rage B-sides.

Audioslave didn't destroy anyone, just brought together what was destroyed. To everyone talking smack about Cornell, just know that he is revered as one of the greatest rock singers of the past twenty years. Zach of Rage will never be remembered and appreciated by the critics like Cornell will be, he is timeless. Zach could easily be replaced by the singer of POD.

Love this album. This was Audioslave's pinnacle as a band since their subsequent albums weren't nearly as good.

Lol at kygermo's comment. First 3 songs are my personal fav but Like A Stone and I Am The Highway are incredible.

I Am The Highway is the best song on here

Wow. Everyone seems to hate this album. I see a lot of people calling it mainstream, didn't Superunknown debut at number 1? So weren't they mainstream? I like Audioslave, I definintely prefer the second album because it seems to be harder and have more Tom Morrello influence. Overall I think this is a good album though. Good vocals, a few songs have good guitar solos and the song writing is pretty good.

really generic, boring rock with very little edge or inspiration.

Something is missing on this album. For me it does not sound finished and while as a whole the album does not sound bad it does not stand out either.
'Like A Stone' is one of the stand out tracks for me.
