you think it's run of the mill, that's fine, i think it's amazing, that's also fine. experience doesn't make you an arbiter of taste when it comes to something that's entirely subjective.
for the last fucking time, you kids on this site have somehow gotten it into your heads that music is entirely subjective. nothing in the world is entirely subjective or entirely objective, and preference doesn't have anything to do with either of those. derp.
this is why it isn't run of the mill for me, because the "misery" vibe is definitely not what i get from it whatsoever, which is one of many reasons why i like it so much.
don't get misery 'vibe' from funeral doom
don't get misery 'vibe' from funeral
don't get misery 'vibe' from
don't get misery 'vibe'
don't get misery
don't get
don't
this isn't so much an argument as it is
"my favorite album in [genre] is [album]"
"you are wrong"
which makes no sense at all :]
not what I'm arguing at all

i wasn't saying music was entirely subjective. if it was, reviews would be pointless. i was saying emotional response to music was subjective. everyone feels something different from things and what i got from black wreath was obviously different from what you got but i'm not making derogatory comments at you for it and claiming you have a lack of experience in funeral doom just because our tastes happen to differ.
i know you know your stuff, that can't be doubted but i've listened to way way more than 4 funeral doom records (like i even needed to tell you that) and even if i had only listened to 4, why would it be wrong to say it's my favorite?
i think the album is perfectly structured with a unique mood and sound and i find it incredibly compelling and it comes through to be more than just about any funeral doom record out there, hence my favorite. what's your problem with that?
not what I'm arguing at all
then what the hell are you arguing?

yes you definitely were not

not sure i trust a review that says something so meaningless
yes you definitely were not
then what the hell are you arguing?
I'm not arguing. arguing implies there's something to be achieved. I'm merely stating the obvious.

yes you definitely were not
the "something" i was referring to was emotional response, not music itself
god damn
yes you definitely were not 2
to be fair, i didn't know that was your review when i posted that so i didn't mean to aim that at you. besides, the comment was at the review, not you.

in which case i'm done here. :]

emotional response is subjective
whoa really? that's definitely what I've been talking about this whole time and definitely something nobody else knows

then uhh
why did you pick fault at black wreath being my favorite funeral d-
yeah you know what forget it.
|
| |
I wasn't picking fault at that at all, I was picking fault at your dumb comment about the review
you simply took it as me laughing at your 'favourite funeral doom album of all time' and it proceeded from there with you spewing more idiocy

well uhh no
and if those are the most powerful tracks you've heard in funeral doom, you're doing it wrong
then what was that about? because that's what i was talking about. you literally just told me because i found those songs really powerful that i was doing something wrong.
|
| |
it's me reiterating the very first comment about this not being classic material
it's irrelevant whether you find it 'powerful' or 'moving', because in the scheme of things the record is nothing special
listen to some more skepticism and shut the fuck up
|

some alloy lead aes ether omg lets calm down guys
i haven't heard anything by shape of despair yet (kill me) so how is this compared to say funeral's debut or skepticism, rasp?

you're totally missing my point but whatever we're just going to go in circles, what skepticism would you recommend?
|
| |
i would rec anyone to start with their debut but i'm sure i'll get slaughtered for suggesting that.. probably Aes or Alloy?
|
| |
I dozed off after the first track of Stormcrowfleet and never listened to them again. Sooo boring.

"I dozed off after the first track of Stormcrowfleet and never listened to them again. Sooo boring."
you do realize nobody cares about your opinion here any longer? please go comment on bands and genres you are able to comprehend

Look who just replied!
I actually liked Worship, but Skepticism never appeals. What is their least boring album?

no you wouldn't be slaughtered. their first album is a bit outdated now, but it's pioneering and is actually an amazing album when you can get past the production. it and thergothon's LP are similar in many respects. my personal favourite is farmakon and then alloy a close second. they're all consistently good though.

forgot this
it's different than funeral's album, they both share a sort of gothic vibe but this much more atmospheric and, to use a overused term, 'glacial'
shape of despair could sort of sound like alloy if that had more of a gothic edge
|
| |
awesome, thanks man. more atmospheric eh? i'm definitely checking this out .still have rigor sardonicous to listen to..long dark nights ahead
