Hmm as long as Protection is a 4 you can do whatever you like with this smelly fridge-freezercore album I guess ;]

Dipped into Name Taken earlier today and forgot how good it was. Maybe time for a rejam...

This album is frigid as fuck, no doubt about that, but in a way that works

I normally rate that when albums actively shoot for it, so maybe I'll change my mind on this hmm

Love all of their albums but Blue Lines and Protection will always be their best. So much soul and personality, diversity. The ones after it are a little emptier and way colder (especially this of course).

I find Mezz and this more consistent and strong from a songwriting standpoint, much as I like the first two. They’re both cold and icy and amazingly atmospheric, sort of reminding me of Kid A.

Yeah I totally get that, it's clearly a case of preference here because the material is great but for different reasons.

I find Mezzanine and 100th Window to be slightly less engaging and they are less diverse and emotionally affecting. This one especially is quite monotonic at times. That is something the first two cannot be accused of being. Plus songwriting-wise, Blue Lines has what is probably their best ever track, Unfinished Sympathy.

this was harder for me to really dive into back when I was just getting into MA, but I put it on during a long drive the other night and enjoyed the hell out of it

I can't even rank this against something like Blue Lines, it's going for such a different thing you're either in the mood for one or the other - probably part of the reason why I felt Collected was such a jarring listen, too
