I don't know what the hell this is. It's very good, but I really don't know what to rate it and it is really confusing upon first listen. There's just so much to take in, it's one of these albums you sit down with.
I recognise bands like Isis, Neurosis, Mastodon, Meshuggah, Converge, and then I hear some cello stuff that could be done by Apocalyptica, some Textures, Cult of Luna....it's really too much I guess.
It's amazing music though. And naming it after geological periods of the earth is just an amazing move. I never thought I would find music that did that. Now I just need some music about all the planets in the solar system. And not Holst.

I somehow have the same problem when it comes to rating it. somehow I'm leaning toward a 4.5, but I'm not sure yet. Check out Fluxion and Aeolian as well when you're at it.

I heard the first couple songs off Aeolian, it's decent enough. But I'm gonna stick with this thing for a while because it needs lots of time to sink in and I only have a few days before I see them live.

But, these guys are barely post metal at all. A lot of their material is chugga-chugga metalcore. Only the second half of Precambrian is post-metal.
What post-metal? More progressive then post.

they're referred to as both the ocean and the ocean collective ...lastfm has them down as just the ocean though as does wikipedia
