Which phase is your fave Pots? I haven't checked the EP you rec'd yet...

I was actually just discussing this with my friend the other night
Four Tet is a weird artist for me in that he his quality control in his output is virtually non existent. Every once in a while he'll put something out where I'm like "yeah, I AM a Four Tet fan" but then the next thing he does is some whack 20 minute shitty song no one asked for and I'm like "oh yes this is why I feel luke-warm about Four Tet.
So theres no phase I particularly favour, he always releases stuff I don't like in between what I do, but I've just always found Pause through There Is Love In You to be particularly overrated albums. Everything he has done that has truly blown my mind has been after that (sans the burial collabs)

Ah yeah, totally get that. The only ones I really dig are this and Everything Ecstatic. The others I've checked all contain some missteps (or sometimes no highs at all).

Relistened to Pause earlier and a lot of it is v forgettable (probably a low 3.5 maybe even a 3). Dl'ing Ecstatic along with Bricolage and a handful of indietronica/glitch pop releases to round off my mood

Pause is great, damn

I don't dislike anything on it, but also it feels more like a vague whimsical mood piece compared to the tracks here - defs gonna stay in my library, but it doesn't grab me the same way :[

I feel that. Ive listened to both for a while so thats why i love his work in this period.

I hear this. I've been in and out of his stuff for years. But when I'm in the mood, there's not much else that vibes like FT.

Still think this is pretty killer since he used mostly just a laptop, if i read that interview right anyway.

Bro. This is hands down one of the best electronic records I've ever listened to. Jesus christ, this is genius levels of excellent.
Reminds me of the superb Unravel 2 soundtrack as well, so good!

A portion of his earlier stuff (‘Glasshead’ EP as an example) isn’t even on the database. Now if my laptop was working I’d do the honours, but alas I need a damn new one.
I dig Glasshead.

One of the first electronic albums I ever loved, glad you dig. A few others of his are top notch too. Id check Pause or There Is Love In You next

Cool thanks. I was almost flabbergasted to discover I hadn’t actually heard/rated any Four Tet before, assumed I’d just forgotten the details.
I’ll likely go through the lot (okay maybe not every single one, but the majority).

Fair warning: his discog is wildly inconsistent
