This is an exceptional album.
The concept is accessible yet solid, and 'They Way Life's Meant To Be' might be one of my favourite songs of all time. 'Twilight' is brilliant as is the reggae infused 'The Lights Go Down'.
Recently acquired an original pressing of the vinyl and loving it all over again.

If I have never heard ELO before, should I check this out or their older stuff first? Here because I heard that someone asked Paul and Ringo what the Beatles would have sounded like if they had been around for the 80’s. They both responded “ELO”.

this is their best so id just start here tbh, a lot of their other early albums have CLASSIC songs but overall arent as consistent as this as a unit. plus this album has a cool concept and a unique vibe!

This probably doesn't sound like what people usually think when they imagine ELO, but it's my favorite too. It's 60s pop projected into the 80s, with various little influences (from Beatles and Beach Boys to the Buggles). There's not much prog left but the touch is still felt here and there in the smart transitions. It's pretty perfect hehe.
Love how it sounds too (even if it could've been a little beefier I suppose). If you find an old not-remastered CD you gotta grab it!
