I haven't heard this yet, but I'm guessing its a little better than most people say.

most underrated Devin's album.

if fact, concept is just a joke, and music works prefectly with the concept.

trying to compare DT albums is a bit difficult thing, because they are so different of each other

this guys is a fucking genius. this album is the properly soundtrack of Mars Attack!!!!

Not that bad of an album, don't listen to the reviewer's rating. PS: I love the Omnidimensional Creator.

Your taking this album way too serious, man. I honestly don't think this is near as bad as what your proclaiming, but good review anyways.

Fucking miserable review. I bought Ziltoid, simply because it's Devin, and it's amongst the least disappointing musical purchases I've ever made in my life. For starters, your claims that the songs never get intense are completely inane. "By Your Command" was easily in the top 3 most intense songs I've ever seen performed live (especially the part when the commander presents Ziltoid with the coffee. If I didn't think moshing was fucking stupid, I would have punched the dude next to me square in the face out of pure intensity). "Planet Smasher" and "Ziltoidia Attaxxx!!!" are incredibly intense as well.
Oh and your comment that there is no emotion, I can only assume you skipped "Hyperdrive". Either that or you're not quite aware what the word "emotion" means.

Oh, and was that really a bit bashing Synchestra? Remember when I said ZTO was one of the least disappointing musical purchase I've ever made? Synchestra was the least disappointing. Easily my favorite Devin album, and you're a fucking idiot if you like Devin but not that CD.

Case in point: Review sucks, not the CD.

I'm still trying to figure out why this album gets such a bad rap. It's just a fun listen. The music is good, the story as it is flows, and it is just an enjoyable ride.

I think the second people start over analyzing this and anything Devin has done they miss the point.

Good review but the album doesn't sound tired in anyway that I see. I've given it to people to introduce them to D.T. and it works like a charm. If anything it is more cohesive than most of his albums. It's a good introduction. Is it the best album via Townsend; no of course not, but it is much better than this review posits. All of Townsend's albums are full of holes. I haven't heard one yet no matter how good they are that aren't hit or miss on a song by song basis. He takes some chances and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

That's what makes this a good listen, it's consistent.

I give this a 4.5 for personal reasons, objectively though I think this is a solid 3.5.

Fantastic Devy album. Took a while to grow on me and not see it as a kinda of "joke album", but more of a lighthearted album with a lot to offer.

personally i think this is a good album. I like a nice story with a bit of humor in an album. nice review too, although i dont agree with some points made, but opinions differ from person to person.

Looking forward to the sequel of this album Devin said he would work on after the last 2 albums of the Devin Townsend Project.

c'mon man!

This album host a slew of great tracks, By Your Command, Colour Your World, Hyperdrive, and The Greys are excellent.

There are points that drag, making the record unpleasantly in-cohesive but I really don't think it deserves such a low

rating....

Not DT's greatest work but a 1.0 is far too harsh. There are some pretty great melodies here and the goofy premise is endearing, if immature, especially the spoken lines from the planet smasher and omnidimensional creator.

I would say it's a pretty big step back from Terria but a 1.0 feels like it's just being reactionary for the sake of it.

This is the stupidest fucking album concept ever. Idc if it's tounge-in-cheek or anything like that, if you manage to make The Mars Volta's or Kid Cudi's album "concepts" seem intelligent by comparison, you have royally fucked up.

Disagree with this review in every possible way. This album fucking rocks, not to mention he did it all by himself. Sure, it's not Townsend's defining work as a progressive artist, but it's still an impressive release none-the-less.

Not Devin at his best but strangely appealing and quite addicting still. The Greys and Hyperdrive are the best here, although Solar Winds, Planet Smasher and Color Your World have their moments too.

Can't get over how awesome the death growls in Planet Smasher are. Didn't know that Devin had used these kind of vocals before I heard this.

I agree, the Hyperdrive on this is better although the Addicted one is really good too.

The Greys kicks ass as well.

Yah Hyperdrive's guitars are better and the chorus is a little more haunting on this.

Kind of want to raise this to a 4 but I'll give it some more time to see if it can stand the test of time.

I love how Devin says "the Omniscient" on ZTO..
