I'm digging this a hell of a lot lately. The title track and Anesthetize are fucking amazing. Lyrically, this album is one of the most interesting I've heard in recent times.

Their older stuff which is more psychedelic is good for relaxing too.

all PT is good. i find that blackfield II is a better album to relax to tho (not sayin its a better album at all, PT slays)

I know abunch of user on Sputnik really like PT but for some reason I couldn't find anything good about them on this album.
It just seemed really really boring to me and I listen to post-rock.
Is there a better album they have out, cause I'm close to just labeling this album and band as no good.

If you didn't like this then try In Absentia or Deadwing. Try Signify as well and perhaps Stupid Dream. This is easily their heaviest release to date so it just mightn't be to your taste. There are plenty of subtleties here that make the album so much more enjoyable to me, like all the keyboard work. You kind of don't notice it at first.

Brilliant album, not their best but nonetheless still interesting and different. Loving the title track and Anesthetize.

I swear there are no weak tracks on this, not even Sleep Together.
This has to be one of the best albums I've heard in quite a while.

Every track is pretty strong, but the title track and Anesthetize are undoubtedly the best here I reckon. This Message Edited On 01.23.08

Far too depressing for me. When I saw them live they did go through the whole thing which was nice, but the imagery was very dark and demoralizing, however I know Steve was trying to create that very feeling. At least deadwing isn't about a child blowing his brains out. This Message Edited On 01.29.08

I much prefer Deadwing or In Absentia but i like the atmosphere around this album and the point there getting at, i just don't enjoy the music as much.

You definitely managed to look at the larger picture of the album, which some reviewers missed.
Although I think you probably should have gone into more detail about why My Ashes lets it down (which I agree with, by the way).
Sleep together is undoubtedly the 2nd least impressive on the album, with all but this and My Ashes being very impressive indeed.
And I agree, that this will always be a classic due to it's relevance and lyrical themes alone, without even taking into consideration the musical brilliance and everything else that makes this album a classic.

My Ashes is a good song, but it's rather zzz at times. It's just a little drowsy.

^ Yeah but still, like you said, a very good song. You gotta admit the way it comes in right after the title track is gold; just like a second part.
Great review, but I can't really hear the Opeth and Dream Theater influences that are mentioned. Maybe that's just me.
I think the heavy parts are more reminiscent of Meshuggah (Anesthetize) and Tool (Way Out of Here) tbh.
