you cant really compare the different death genres i dont think, you can appreciate the different ones for what they are but its hard to say that death from their more prog era is aesthetically better than them from their straight up fuckin brutal era.

This was a snoozer. Maybe I should have started with this album and worked my way up instead of starting with Death's best stuff first.

^That probably would have been best, because I did it that-a-way and I love this

Stranegly I'm listening to this for the first time right now. Some great stuff, a bit repetitive though

@Nargrarok if you don't think it's that good, why do you give it 3.5 rating, meaning 'great'? Not very good sounds more like a 2.5.

A great Death Metal album, with raw underground sound. Some songs are basic, but still great.

I don't know, I love the sound of old school death metal bands the best. Like old school Dismember, Entombed, Carnage, Autopsy, and early death. In a way, it is almost sludgy, but it is still death metal.

I prefer death's first two albums to their later work, as early death had many features of thrash, and of course, i more of a thrash fan. In fact i like all early death metal, simply because it was more like thrash, than today's death metal. I dont think it would be far-fetched to call this a death/thrash album. Death would mature later on, but i say nothing beats the raw, primative, deaththrashing madness Death played early on.
