Not the Sun is the worst in my opinion

Them are fighting words. That song is amazing.
Pretty much all good lyrics should be A) Insightful and B) Articulate

Jesse Lacey almost always succeeds with B but frequently fails with A.
I think different lyricists have different agendas, even just within different songs, so it's unfair to give them a blanket rating based upon certain attributes. From an overall standpoint I think Jesse is a terrific lyricist and one of my favorites.

when you had a giant avatar saying "I'm gay (don't worry it's not contagious)" it was confusing

This is a nearly flawless album, a completely different band from the one that made Deja Entendu (cringe-worthy)

both are good, deja has better individual tracks, but this is better as a whole

also, lunchforthesky, you're such a fucking idiot, if you care that much about lyrical prowess and metaphors, go read some poetry

the reason poetry fails to resonate with a modern day audience is because it doesn't appeal to them at all, and that's why songwriters have to come up with alternate ways of reaching their target market, and that's what lyricists these days do

shut the fuck up and stop complaining about lyrics as if they're the be-all and end-all of musicThis Message Edited On 10.16.08
