Contrary to popular belief, Sunn didn't create anything. They just took what other bands laid before them and took them one step further. They expanded but they didn't create.

ahh gotcha, not really familiar with the whole drone scene

you can check earth, melvins, boris
but i would say these bands established the genre, they didn't necessarily create that sound
its roots can be traced way back
i would go as far as to say that even black sabbath have some elements of drone to their music, but you wouldn't know that unless you play the guitar
