So what would you call Converge, Botch, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall etc.
I'd classify them as bands that aren't relatively close to falling under the same genre.
Its obvious that they're mimicking old-school Metallica, but who cares, it doesn't make the album horrible. People hate this band not just because it's a cheap, blatant knock-off of Metallica, but also because of the songwriting and musicianship and so on. Plus, originallity is what makes a band...interesting to look into at the least.

Uh...
Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage are rather similar in the sense that they're two mainstream metalcore bands. And Converge and Botch "spazzcore", so to speak, and they also sound a hell of a lot alike. Besides, in the loosest sense of the word, all four of them are metalcore.
You do of course realize that Metallica is an awful, awful band? This album isn't thrash metal. At all. Go listen to Darkness Descends, Pleasure to Kill, or Bonded by Blood if you want to know what real thrash sounds like.
You know who sucks? That mainstream band everybody likes. Here, go listen to some of my sooper obscure underground heavy metal and then tell me how much you like your damn mainstream stuff.

This album isnt horrible. Most of the n00bs hate Trivium just coz their friends hate them & its they think its cool to hate trivium. I listen to old school thrash and have noticed many times that trivium do rip off a little bit off Kreator and many other bands....
But this album doesnt suck. I like it.

I've just listen to few songs and I enjoy. I really like Trivium, they are very similiar to Metallica now but I can't say :" they suck".
They are very young so they can grow up as musicians...

I don't call Neil Morse amateur just because I don't dig his music! Nor do I. I rated PsyOpus's first CD a 1.5, but I acknowledge the talent of the guitarists and drums. The reason why I call Trivium amateurs is not because of my dislike to them, but because they are just far from talented. The guitarists can shred, yes, but it's the compositions that matter. Every riff that Trivium thinks up is unoriginal and borders on plagiarism. Not only do they copy their influences, they use the same trick on their albums 10 times.
