"twinkly arg"
[2] Hate the term...
I'd call this math rock inspired emo.
|
| |
most emo is math rock inspired tho
|

Lots of emo is math rock inspired, nowadays.
|
| |
post-, math and the softer side of emo have always been really close
|
| |
Close yeah, but I wouldn't say most emo bands are inspired by math (rock). The current wave drew lots of inspiration from these, but most 90's bands and also some current bands only show similarities if you think of the often complex guitar interplay. (but no odd time signatures, well maybe AF). But then again, genres.
|
| |
But still, listen to let's say: a Mineral track, then an AF track and then a Don Caballero track and the difference is apparent. (Mineral being only very slightly mathy)

every time i listen to this i always start off like 'this is amazing, damn' but then get less enamoured as the album goes on and i realize at least some diversity in the sound would've been nice

Isn't Never Meant the only song here about an ex?

Loads of the songs relate, it doesn't have to be 'about' anything, if the lyrics relate that's all that it takes to make you feel sad about an ex

i feel like all of them were written about either loss or heartache
