The hype is long from over for me. My vinyl came in Monday and I’ve listened every night after work since. It sounds really nice on vinyl. Which I never had any issues with production here. It sounds wonderful to me. This is much better than Ohms to me without any question. And it leaves Gore far in the dust. Really would love to continue my listening string but I’m going outta town this weekend

Lol after 20 listens for me (I think) shit only got better. Anyway, I loved Ohms...thoroughly
When it comes to Deftones for me I don't need push a lover to love another. Are you turned on?

“ the production on here is solid and a bit nicer on chino's voice... but ohms production is masterful imo. best part of that album”
I think I agree with this a lot but they’re both going for different things. It’d be cool to see how this sounds with Terry but I’m glad they went with Nick here.
The fucking drums on Ohms sound so perfect tho, Abe has long been one of my favorite parts of the band and Ohms was the first one in a while to really do him justice. Like you said somewhere else tho, this album is for sure less “metal” and I like the dense (more lush? even) sound of some of these songs

First time I'm digging a Deftones album since KNY. Loving this!

Second listen: just as underwhelming as the first
My mount is a mountain is still the standout, unfortunately raised my expectations

Yea this is just okay to me. Love how these guys are getting a 2nd peak in popularity tho. So many people love this. Saw one of my homies who doesn't really fuck with rock music bumping this on an IG story and shit made me smile so hard

yeah despite all my complaints and critiques i'm very happy to see this album be as big and beloved as it is. the more people that this album gets into deftones and 'loud guitar music' at large the better

Hope everyone who just boarded the train goes back and listens to their discography not just their big hits or they're missing out

oh people absolutely are. seems like every 6-12 months another random song blows up on tiktok. most notably: mascara, sextape, rosemary, entombed. seems to be the one thing that's causing them to shake up the setlists and perform snw songs again too haha. their spotify top 10 is kind of a trip to check every month... change, my own summer, and bqad are always there but the rest change pretty regularly.

For me, this is everything I want in a Deftones album. The first 3 songs are a bit of a slow start (altho I’ve come to love them), but the rest is full steam ahead. The atmosphere is there and so are the melodies and hooks. One thing Ohms was sorely missing was fun songwriting. None of the hooks landed on that album, despite it having a very distinct atmosphere.
The only thing I would have liked more is just a bit more intensity, but chino has pushed it pretty hard over the years. This is their closest to DE in terms of engaging songwriting and memorable hooks.

Band has never been bigger and this album will only further their popularity. They were the shit thirty years ago and they're still the shit now.
Well deserved. Might be a top 5 band OAT for me

Great statement Gyro. Ohms' atmosphere is very good, lacks some hooks. Some tunes here simply do not leave my head...like right now

Seen them live three times and I think I needed a lot more from them if they're in the discussion for top 10 bands.
Always have a soft spot for them though, end of the '90s they'd have been a top 20 band for me.
